(One) of the moments you've been waiting for is here: the announcement of our Breakwater 2021 Fiction Contest finalists!



Brenda Salinas Baker is a first-year MFA student at The Writer's Foundry at St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn, New York.


Katherine Gutierrez is a Texas-born Londoner who has been featured in Fincham Press anthologies and shortlisted for The Masters Review. She is currently working on a novel and a collection of short fiction.


Christopher Berardino is a writer of Japanese-American descent from Orange County, CA. He received an MFA in Fiction from Cornell University in 2018. His work has previously appeared in Flash Fiction, The Copperfield Review, Pilgrimage, Every Writers’ Resource, Newfound, The Pinch, and others.


Z. Hanna Mahon is a writer living in Washington, DC.



All finalists will be published in our forthcoming issue of Breakwater Review, which will be released shortly, and the winner will receive a $1,000 prize as well as a featured publication in our issue.
